How to Control your emotional eating?

It’s not uncommon for a lot of us to resort to food when feeling stressed or emotionally frustrated. Though at first, it may not look so harmful, we all know how it leaves us feeling guilty all day and how it adds to that extra inch of waistline. But nothing to worry, emotional eating is completely controllable, just read on to find out how.

Get Social

One of the characteristic symptoms of emotional eating is withdrawal from a healthy social life. But isolating yourself and not getting to talk with real people (not Facebook friends) reduces the efficacy of the brain to control emotions and urges you to over eat. So just go out there, move around, talk to people; there are plenty of places where you can meet new people.

Always keep your spirits up

There are a lot of vampires living amongst us. But instead of sucking on blood they suck out all the positive energy from you, leaving you depressed and helpless. But don’t let them get the better of you. Ignore others opinion and learn to trust your own. If you think you’re beautiful then you are beautiful; don’t wait for a confirmation on anything. This positive attitude will definitely help you stay off from binge eating.

Stay Active

Maintaining an active lifestyle can help you not just in escaping emotional eating but avoid getting frustrated or stressed for unwanted things in the first place. Regular working out boosts self-confidence and helps you tackle tough problems with a cool mindset. So, hit the gym regularly, and you can see the urge to over eat diminishes automatically.

Don’t fill your kitchen shelf with garbage

To translate that, stop buying groceries that you know to be of no good. Avoid all those ready-to-cook
French fries and pizza rolls and stock your refrigerator with healthy vegetable and healthy quick meals. You definitely can’t eat more when you don’t have many.

Look after your own self

Yes! It is good to look after people and take care of their emotions. But who’s going to take care of yours? Learn to handle your emotions in different situations and attend to your needs.

Though the above tips are no foolproof plans, they sure help you ease you through the transition and resort to healthy eating habit. Just follow them and you should be able to get rid of the emotional eating habit pretty soon.
